Website Update – New Feature

If you visit my home page you will notice a new section at the bottom of the page – In The News. I’m going to use this locale to print links to news bits that I find relevant or interesting. In case you haven’t noticed, you can also read book reviews from my contributors and I in the side bars. The goal of all of this is to make my web site more appealing on a “visit it every day” basis.

So check it out, lemme know what you think.

Also – If you have interest in contributing to the site, shoot me an email. I’m taking applications.

It’s not nearly as complete as I wanted it to be when I started, but there is enough there to justify actually putting it to use. I worked too damn hard on it.

My website has been redesigned. You can view it here.

Some things might be broken, especially if you have my old web site bookmarked.

I promised a real update, so a real update you shall have. I cannot guarantee you that it will be a terribly exciting update, but my life is currently in a state of content inactivity, so excitement really isn’t the order of the day.

Well, there has been excitement, but it hasn’t been the good kind. They have involved doctors and Emergency Rooms and ambulances. Such times have been chronicled, and as such I shall not rehash them here.

Besides, I got “scolded” by my Mother last night for her having to find out about the fact that I had an ambulance called on me by reading this here blog. Oops. Yeah. Not so much with the positive communication skills there, Mikey. I tell ya, though, my hatred of the phone is getting worse. If it rings more than once during the course of the day, I get really irritable.

Maybe I just need more comfortable phones with nicer rings.

A. has started baseball, and the first game of the season was last night. I am quite happy to report that his team was victorious, thoroughly stomping the other team into the dirt. Both A. and his cousin got hits, and made it home at least once. It was beautiful, especially considering the fact that they have moved up into a new league and the players are much more talented.

My back is feeling much better, and I think I’m going to start exercising again tomorrow. This time, however, I’m going to ease myself back into it instead of trying to go right back to the point I was when I quit playing six months ago. I still have the skill, I just need to build the muscles back up. I’ve also been doing much better on Weight Watchers this week. Not perfect, but considerably closer to program than I have been in a long time. I hope to see some results on the scale. I’ve set myself a goal of getting back down to 250 by the time the Goth Cruise sets sail (January 16th). That’s only an average of 1.6 pounds per week. If I actually stay disciplined, I know I can do it.

Mind you, I have to get through some seriously heinous food holidays during that time. Funny thing is that I wrote a huge bit of “encouraging” text in a comment to a friend who just started WW recently, and it’s helped me feel more focused. And thus, it is proven yet again how important peer participation is in weight loss.

Since it has come out on the web site, I can now happily announce that I have been cast in We Won’t Pay, We Won’t Pay! as part of the 2005 – 2006 Jobsite Ensemble. It’s, obviously, a lighter season for me this time around but I’m just as excited about it as I was our previous one. The scripts this year are all really good (the ones I’ve read anyway), and the casts look top notch. If you aren’t a season ticket holder yet, there is no time like the present to remedy that situation.

Speaking of which – There is far too much in the next year that I want to see at TBPAC, and far too little money in my bank account. KHAN!

The Salvador Dali Museum is having a Progress Energy customer appreciation day this Saturday. Free admission with your Progress Energy bill. We plan on taking advantage of it. Any of you other locals care to join us? Ok, so it won’t be free if you’re live outside of the Progress Energy service area, but I guess that’s the price you pay for living in the ultra hip locales of Tampa. Viva la suburbia!

The hot tub still leaks. Pretty sure I know why, and I may have put an end to that situation this morning. Time will tell. Needs to dry completely out there first.

That’s about all I got for now, my friends. I’m off to throw my stinky ass in the shower.

And for those of you who think I'm too liberal…

There are Democrats out there who can go fuck themselves too.

Amid the chaos and confusion that engulfed New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck, (Rep. William Jefferson, D-La.) used National Guard troops to check on his property and rescue his personal belongings — even while New Orleans residents were trying to get rescued from rooftops, ABC News has learned.

Ganked from interdictor (who, if you aren’t reading, is the guy that has been holed up in his downtown New Orleans business keeping the servers running and reporting on things as they happen).

I’m gonna write a real update later today. Promise.

Humbling is…

Staring up Dance Dance Revolution after months of not playing it (for a while there because of Yourself! Fitness but more recently just because I haven’t gotten off my ass to do so) and realizing you are 19 pounds heavier then you were the last time you played.

This is insanity.
